SEO update: The top 10 frame grabber brands in Q1/2024

Q1/2024 shows a lot of fluctuation in the lower part of our top 10 chart. Kaya Instruments and Active Silicon strengthen their position with two pages in the top 10, at the expenses of Zebra.

Vision Markets’ Search Engine Ranking Position Report gives a good indication of who the top players are for specific segments in the machine vision industry. For frame grabbers, we chose the keyword “CoaXPress frame grabber” because “frame grabber” alone also refers to consumer software tools and is not specific enough of our industry.

Disclaimer:

The chart above shows the organic search results for the keyword “CoaXPress frame grabber” in Google.com in the US. They may not reflect results in other countries or Google’s personalized search results based on individual user behavior. This reports only gives a general indication of the search engine power of websites and brands for this specific keyword.

Kaya Instruments and Active Silicon with two pages in the top 10

In Q1/2024, we saw little fluctuation at the top of the chart with Euresys, Kaya Instruments and Bitflow dominating the game. The bitflow.com domain has not (yet?) suffered from the acquisition of Bitflow by Advantech last year. Surprisingly, Teledyne Dalsa, who had disappeared from the top 10 in Q4, is back on rank #4 in March. It will be interesting to see if this is a sustainable comeback in our upcoming Q2/2024 report.

Notably, Kaya Instruments is back to rank 2 after a slight drop in Q4/2023. The company even ranked a second page in the top 10 every month since December 2023. The same applies to Active Silicon, who also ranked two pages in the top 10 every month in Q1/2024. This leaves less rankings available for other domains, so other players have a hard time maintaining or building up their positions between rank #5 and #10.

Tough competition for ranks #5 to #10

As a result, we see a lot of fluctuation at the bottom of the chart. One surprising loser in Q1/2024 is Zebra, who completely dropped off from rank 6 in January. Gidel, who entered the chart in Q4, was not able to sustain its position across Q1. At least it improved its previous performance by ranking #8 in February. RMA electronics, who had been a steady member of the chart for months, dropped off the top 10 in March.

We also see newcomers in the Q1/2024 chart: Basler appears at rank #10 in January and March, and Multipix made a first appearance in March. We will see in Q2 if these domains can improve on these positions.

A YouTube video also came up in March. As we saw with Reddit in the Machine Vision Software report, such major domains are a tough competition for niche players like machine vision companies when it comes to Google rankings. It will be interesting if this YouTube result maintains in Q2 and beyond, blocking another top ranking for actual frame grabber vendors.

SEO update: The top 10 machine vision software brands in Q1/2024

SERP report machine vision software

Like for other keywords, the top 5 ranking of “machine vision software” is stable, and the battle takes place in the lower half of the top 10. Advantec makes a furious entry into the chart while Zebra has not recovered Adaptive Vision’s former rankings.

The Search Engine Ranking Position (SERP) of a domain for a given keyword provides a good indication of the company’s brand recognition in a specific segment of the machine vision industry. At Vision Markets, we monitor the ranking of our clients and their competitors for their target keywords in their target regions which gives us indications on who are the top brands in the industry.

As for “machine vision camera”, “machine vision lens” or “machine vision light”, the chart is quite steadily dominated by the same domains months after month: cognex.com, viso.ai, mvtec.com. However, the lower part of the top 10 shows interesting changes over time.

Reddit: a tough competitor for machine vision companies

In out last report, we saw Reddit enter the chart at a pretty high ranking. The same Reddit-page kept at a high level throughout Q1/2024.

This is a good reminder that general keywords like “machine vision software” can lead you to compete with general websites with a very high domain authority like Amazon, Wikipedia or Reddit. If the top rankings are firmly held by such domains, it is smarter to optimize your website for more specific, long-tail keywords – for example “machine vision software for defect detection” or “AI models for machine vision applications”.

Cognex even stronger, Advantech new kid in town

Cognex, who has been #1 for months, ranked a second page in the top 10, which shows its dominantion on this keyword. This comes at the cost of those competing for the second half of the top 10 rankings: Adlink dropped off in Q1/2024 and NI is struggling to maintain its position.

There are some winners in that field, though: Q1 showed a new entrant rushing to rank 5 in just two months: Advantech. This is spectacular but will need to be confirmed in Q2, as fluctuations are not unusual. Euresys, who entered the chart in Q4/2023, was able to stabilize its position in Q1/2024. The Belgian company known for its frame grabbers is now successfully building its reputation in the software field.

In our last report, we noted a spectacular drop of adaptive-vision.com following the acquisition by Zebra. Zebra.com entered the top 10 for the first time in February and was passed by adaptive-vision.com again in March, so it seems the transition is initiated and the Zebra domain may progressively catch up on ground lost by Adaptive Vision in the coming months. Stay tuned for future updates!

SEO update: The top 10 machine vision light brands in Q1/2024

SERP ranking machine vision light

In Q1/2024, Vision Markets’ Search Engine Ranking Position report shows a fall of NI on the keyword “machine vision light”, while TPL-Vision enters the top 10 chart.

Vision Markets’ SERP report (Search Engine Ranking Position) provides a good indication of the top brand in each segment of the machine vision industry. The ranking position not only reflects the quality of a website’s search engine optimization (SEO), but also the authority of the domain, based on the amount and quality of links directing to that website.

For the keyword “machine vision light”, the top 3 has been relatively stable in the last months, with Smart Vision Lights, Cognex and Advanced Illumination competing for the top steps of the podium.

The fall of NI

In Q1/2024, the most spectacular changes are in the lower end of the top 10 with the fall of NI. NI.com closed the year 2023 in rank 4 and only achieved ranks 8 to 10 in Q1. Symmetrically, Banner Engineering improved its rankings in Q1 compared to last year. After a peak at rank 4 in January, the trend goes downwards so it will be interesting to observe if the domain can stabilize in the middle or upper half of the chart or fall back to last year’s lower rankings.

Another interesting news in Q1/2024 is the appearance of TPL Vision on rank 7 in January and February. Was it a one-time peak or will the French Wenglor-company be back in the chart in Q2?

The online shop Automationdirect.com entered the top 10 in February but disappeared again in March. We will monitor if this was an accident in the next quarter. Subscribe to our newsletter for free updates of our SERP reports!

Overall, we see a larger volatility in the lower end of the top 10: Emund Optics, Machinevisiondirect.com and Smart Vision Lights ranked a second page of their website in the top 10 at the cost of other players like NI or Opto-Engineering, who dropped off the chart.

SEO update: The top 10 machine vision lens brands in Q1/2024

Vision Market’s Q1/2024 Search Engine Ranking Position update for the keyword “machine vision lens” confirms the progression of Kowa. Navitar and Schneider-Kreuznach enter the top 10.

The search engine ranking position (SERP) is a good indicator of the top brands and domains for a given keyword. This is why we at Vision Markets us this as a KPI for the marketing performance of our clients, comparing them with their target competitors. We generate reports for a list of keywords specifically tailored to our clients’ market positioning.

General keywords like “machine vision camera” or “machine vision lens” provide a high-level indication of the top players in the key segments of the machine vision industry.

Kowa on the rise

The top half of our chart remains dominated by Edmund Optics, Thorlabs, Tamron, and Opto Engineering.

The more interesting changes happen in the ranks 6 to 10: in our Q4/2023 machine vision lens report, we had noted a strong progression of Kowa-lenses.com. The domain had barely been in the top 10 in Q3 and closed the year on rank 6. Q1/2024 confirms that upward trend. It is interesting to observe that Kowa performs with kowa-lenses.com, a website dedicated to machine vision lenses managed by Kowa’s EMEA sales organization, not with the corporate domain kowa.com. The same is true for Tamron: tamron.vision, a machine vision website, appears on the chart, not tamron.com.

Dedicated websites for a target market increase the relevance of the content for specific keywords as opposed to a global domain that may include totally different products like consumer lenses. Fujifilm is a counterexample: the corporate domain fujifilm.com performs well on the keyword “machine vision lens”. This proves that both strategies can be successful if done properly.

Kowa’s progressions comes at the cost of Moritex and Computar. Both dropped off the chart in Q1/2024. Navitar appeared in February and March. It will be interesting to monitor if the domain is in the top 10 to stay. The same applies to sporadic apparitions like Schneider-Kreuznach in January, Excelitas in February, and Cognex in March. SEO update: The top 10 machine vision camera brands in Q1/2024

SERP report machine vision camera

Vision Markets’ SERP report sees Flir consolidate its leadership and confirms the rise of a new top domain for the “machine vision camera” keyword.

Search Engine Ranking Position (SERP), the ranking of domains in Google organic searches, is a good indicator of the strength of a brand for a given keyword. At Vision Markets, we monitor the ranking of our clients and their competitors for their target keywords, which may be more specific than “machine vision camera”. This general keyword, however, gives an indication of how machine vision camera brands perform on search engines.

Newcomer OpenMV at the top of the chart

In December 2024, we had seen a new domain appear in the top 10 in December: openmv.io, ranking #5 from scratch. This was not an accident, as our Q1/2024 report shows: OpenMV has been steadily ranking in the top 5, even ranking #3 in January.

Apart from this major change, the top of the chart remains dominated by Flir, Allied Vision, and Edmund Optics. Flir.com has even strengthened its position sinc Q3/2023, ranking two pages in the top 10 every month.

OpenMV’s rise happens mainly at the cost of Lucid Vision Labs, that is on a downward trend and achieves its lowest ranking in March since July 2023.

Cognex had entered the top 10 in December 2023 but could not really confirm the trend, leaving the chart again in February 2024.

After losing ground in last quarter, Zebra and Keyence are catching up again in Q1. Amazon.com was a surprise at the top of the chart when we started publishing our quarterly reports but disappeared in the last couple of months. The online platform is back in March on rank 10 and it will be interesting to see next quarter if it is the beginning of a comeback. SEO update: The top 10 frame grabber brands in Q4/2023

The Q4/2023 update of our Search Engine Ranking Position Report for CoaXPress frame grabbers shows a relatively stable ranking of all top players, but also one drop-off and one interesting newcomer.

At Vision Markets, we monitor the performance of our clients in organic searches for their target keywords and compare them with their competitors. The search engine ranking position (SERP) is a good indicator of the strength of a brand in a specific market segment.

For frame grabbers, we found that the keyword “frame grabber” alone is not specific enough for relevant results in the camera interface cards market, because it this phrase is also used to refer to other products such as software tools or mobile apps capturing single frames in a video stream.

Therefore, in this report, we selected the keyword “CoaXPress frame grabber” to identify top frame grabber brands but the results may be different with other interfaces.

Top 5 players remain stable

In Q4/2023, the five top-ranking domains remain the same as in the previous quarter with slight fluctuations: Euresys is a steady #1 and even succeeded to rank two pages on top of the chart in November. Kaya Instruments loses a bit of ground vs. Bitflow, Active Silicon, and Zebra in Q4, but these small fluctuations should probably not be overinterpreted. In December, Kaya even ranked two pages in the top 10 on ranks 5 and 7.

Gidel replaces Teledyne Dalsa

In the second half of the chart, the players remain more or less the same, with distributors like Graftek, RMA Electronics or Pyramid Imaging. Adimec entered the top 10 in October, but did not confirm this performance in November and December.

One notable trend is the replacement of Teledyne Dalsa with newcomer Gidel. Dalsa left the chart in November while Gidel entered at rank 10, but unlike Adimec, the Israeli frame grabber specialist was able to confirm in December, gaining one step at rank 9.

Will the trend carry on in 2024?

Will Gidel be able to maintain or even improve its position in the top 10? Will Teledyne Dalsa celebrate a come-back? Stay tuned and register to our newsletter for our quarterly updates of this and other SEO reports!

SEO update: The top 10 machine vision software brands in Q4/2023

In Q4/2023, the five top-ranking domains for machine vision software remain pretty stable, while we see much more volatility in the lower end of the chart. One top player disappears from the top 10 altogether.

The search engine ranking position (SERP) is a good indicator of the strength of a brand for a specific keyword. Our SERP report for the search “machine vision software” shows significant changes in Q4/2023 vs. Q3/2023.

In Q3, we had found the rankings less volatile for machine vision software than for other keywords. In the light of the Q4 results, we must revise that judgement.

Top-ranking machine vision software brands in google

Stability in the top 5,… but one big drop-off

The top 5 domains remain relatively stable between Q3 and Q4/2023, with viso.ai, Cognex, MVTec, get-cameras.com and adaptive-vision.com dominating the game.

One notable change, however, is that adaptive-vision.com not only dropped off the top 5 in December, it disappeared from the top 10 altogether. This is probably due to the integration of Adaptive Vision into the Zebra group, which also impacts the website. Most likely, adaptive-vision.com will end up simply redirecting to zebra.com, which means it will no longer have its own content for the “machine vision software” or any other keyword. Zebra.com is not yet in the chart, though. In the months to come, it will be interesting to see if zebra.com catches up on the “machine vision software” keyword and how long it takes for that domain to reach the top 10 or even the top 5.

High volatility in the lower rankings

In the second half of the chart, we see much more variations. NI came in at the end of Q3 but leaves the top 10 again in December. Teledyne Dalsa follows a downward trend, while Euresys seems to be gaining ground in Q4/2023. RoboRealm and Mech-Mind popped up in October and November but still struggle to establish a solid presence in the top 10.

SEO update: The top 10 machine vision light brands in Q4/2023

Vision Market’s Search Engine Ranking Position report for machine vision light shows a relative stability among the top players between Q3 and Q4/2023.

The variations observed from month to month have little significance and the overall trends on six months is a relative stability.

No more surprises in Q4

The two main surprises of Q3/2024 have disappeared in the Q4: Edmund Optics no longer ranks two domains in the top 10 (edmundoptics.com and edmundoptics.in). Instead, edmundoptics.com has gained in popularity and now ranks two different pages in the top 10 in November and December. This is exactly the pattern we had observed in the “machine vision camera” report. The surprisingly good results of Vital Vision in Q3/2023 were not confirmed in Q4.

The disappointing results of CCS is confirmed in Q4/2024: the domain ccs-grp.com doesn’t make it into the top 10 at all.

At the top of the chart, Smart Vision Lights and Cognex alternate on ranks 1 and 2, while Advanced Illumination and Machine Vision Direct compete on ranks 3 and 4. NI has slightly gained ground at the cost of Opto-Engineering.

What will be the trend in 2024?

It will be interesting to monitor if this stable trend remains in 2024 or if new entrants can challenge the domination of the top players. Be sure to subscribe to our marketing newsletter for regular updates per e-mail!

SEO update: The top 10 machine vision lens brands in Q4/2023

SERP Search engine ranking position machine vision lenses

At Vision Markets, we constantly monitor the search-engine ranking positions (SERP) of our clients for their target keywords. This gives us insights on the top-performing brands in each product category of the industry. For the keyword “machine vision lens”, our Q4/2023 report shows the surge of one specific brand that was not even in the top 10 back in August 2023.

Like for the “machine vision camera” keyword, the ranking positions showed some fluctuation in Q4/2024 but the top players remained stable, with Edmund Optics, Thorlabs and Tamron leading the charts.

Strong position of Edmund Optics

In Q3, we had been surprised to see Edmund Optics ranking with both their corporate domain Edmundoptics.com and their Indian domain Edmundoptics.in. This is no longer the case in Q4, the corporate .com domain is still #1, and also ranks #3 and #4 with other landing pages. Tamron shows a good progression in Q4, overtaking Opto Engineering.

The surge of Kowa

The more interesting trend happens in the second half of the chart: Kowa-lenses.com shows a strong and steady growth from month to month. The domain had only appeared on rank 10 for the first time in September 2023 and ends the year on rank 6. This is an impressive performance, and it will be interesting to monitor if the Japanese brand can continue on this trend and enter the top 5.

Interestingly, the kowa-lenses.com domain is not the global corporate website of Kowa. Kowa-lenses.com is the website of Kowa’s European sales organization for industrial and scientific optics. We had already noted a similar pattern with Tamron.vision in Q3/2023. This is probably because these websites are more specialized in the machine vision segment than their global parent companies’ that cover other business areas such as consumer lenses. As a result, their performance for machine vision keywords is better, even outside of their target market (our test simulates a search on google.com from a US location).

SEO update: The top 10 machine vision camera brands in Q4/2023

The Q4/2024 update of Vision Markets’ SERP report shows a stable domination of the top players but also a few surprises in December. Contact us if you want custom reports on your performance and that of your competitors!

While there are some fluctuations from month to month, the search engine rankings for the keyword “machine vision camera” remains clearly dominated by the same top players: Teledyne Flir, Allied Vision, Edmund Optics and Omron. Teledyne Flir even strengthened its position in Q4/2023 by ranking two different pages in the top 10 in November and December.

Lucid Vision Labs still performs very well and Keyence and Zebra remain solid players in the second half of the top 10.

What’s new in Q4/2023?

Phantom had been a bit of a surprise in this top 10 in Q3. Unfortunately, the company left the top chart in Q4, along with Teledyne Dalsa and Baumer.

On the other hand, Get Cameras (Industrial-cameras.com), a European reseller of Daheng Imaging, entered the top 10 and even reached rank 6 in November – but left again in December. It will be interesting to monitor if this was just a flash in the pan or the beginning of a long-term trend. Another newcomer is OpenMV, a young embedded vision company from Georgia (USA) that made it to rank 5 in December. This is a quite impressive result but needs to be confirmed as a trend in months to come.

We had been missing two major camera vendors in our last report: Cognex and Basler. Cognex appeared in our top 10 for the first time in December, and we’ll be curious to see if they can sustain this performance in Q1/2024. Basler still ranks further down in search results for the “machine vision camera” keyword. This might be related to the recent relaunch of their website, or with a strategy to focus on more specific, so-called long-tail keywords (e.g. “machine vision camera with IMX174 sensor”)

Amazon.com, one of the surprises of our last report, left the chart in December but this might be just a one-time drop. We’ll see if they celebrate a come-back in Q1/2024.
